As a business professional, you often become distracted by the various things you have to manage simultaneously. Your mind is plagued by thoughts of other tasks that you need to get to. What does staying on task mean?
Staying on task means you become productive. To better understand what productivity means, let’s take a look at several definitions of the term from popular authority sources.

From the three definitions above, you can conclude that productivity is the measure of your quality, state, or fact of being able to generate, create, enhance, or bring forth goods and services.
In other words, when you can create or enhance goods or services then you are productive. If you come up with a new creation, you are productive. When you make something better, you are also productive.
Therefore, being productive means you stay on task until you create something or make it better.
How do you stay on task?
Staying on task requires more than self-help and motivation. You probably have taken a good number of courses and programs on how to be more motivated to do work. But if you’re reading this, chances are you haven’t got to the level of productivity you want.
There are many options you can choose from to increase your productivity:
- Do games at the office that increase employee workplace productivity
- Get involved in centers with activities that enhance your efficiency

However, I have found that being productive is more than tools and exercises. There is a deeper mental and psychological aspect that you must become aware of if you want to be productive. This mental aspect is often not found in productivity training programs so you must dig deeper to find it yourself.
Once you can combine both the tools and techniques to be productive and the mental aspect, then you can achieve true and lasting productivity. You stay on task and get things done. You create new things and make them better.
